Content Guidelines for Business TV Screens

By YAXI TV Editorial Team · January 15, 2026 · Updated March 10, 2026 · 8 min read

Content displayed on venue screens reflects on the business that owns the space. A restaurant that inadvertently shows inappropriate advertising or a gym that runs content irrelevant to its customers both suffer the same consequence: reduced screen effectiveness and a worse customer experience. This guide covers YAXI TV's content standards, the ad categories venues can control, and practical guidelines for venue-produced content.

YAXI TV Platform-Level Content Standards

All advertising creatives submitted to the YAXI TV network are reviewed against content standards before they can be delivered to venue screens. Creatives that violate these standards are rejected before reaching any venue. Categories that are prohibited from the YAXI TV network include:

  • Adult or sexually explicit content
  • Content promoting illegal products or services
  • Deceptive advertising or false claims
  • Content that is discriminatory, harassing, or hateful
  • Malware, phishing, or fraudulent content

These prohibitions apply to all screens on the network regardless of venue category settings.

Additionally, YAXI TV reviews creatives for compliance with applicable platform policies from demand partners including Google Ad Manager and Vistar Media. Creatives that fail any platform's content policies are rejected.

Venue-Level Ad Category Controls

Beyond platform-level prohibitions, venue partners can restrict additional ad categories that don't fit their venue environment or customer base. From the YAXI TV dashboard, you can block:

  • Alcohol advertising — appropriate to block in family-focused venues, healthcare settings, venues serving under-21 audiences
  • Gambling and gaming advertising — appropriate to block in venues where gambling promotion may be legally restricted or contextually inappropriate
  • Political advertising — block if you prefer your screens to remain neutral on political topics
  • Competitive advertising — if you're a restaurant and don't want a competing restaurant's ad on your screens, you can block the relevant category

Impact of category blocks on revenue: Every category you block reduces the pool of eligible advertisers for your screens, which reduces fill rate and, therefore, revenue. Block categories that are genuinely inappropriate for your venue — don't over-block categories just because you're cautious. A sports bar blocking alcohol advertising, for example, significantly reduces its advertiser pool without meaningful benefit.

If an ad displays that you believe should not have appeared on your screen based on your category settings, contact support@yaxitv.com with the screen ID and approximate time. We investigate all such reports.

Standards for Venue-Produced Content

The content you create and upload to your own playlists is governed primarily by your own judgment about what's appropriate for your customers. Some practical standards to consider:

  • Be accurate in promotional claims: Don't advertise prices or offers you can't honor. Legal requirements around pricing accuracy and promotional terms apply to digital signage just as they do to print advertising.
  • Match content to venue context: Content appropriate for a late-night bar may not be appropriate for a family restaurant that also serves lunch. Consider your full customer demographic when selecting content — especially entertainment content.
  • Keep it current: Outdated promotions and expired offers left in playlists undermine customer trust. Review and update content when promotions end.
  • Use licensed media: Only use images and videos you own or have licensed. Using copyrighted stock images, branded logos, or proprietary content without rights is a legal risk regardless of the display medium.

Entertainment Content Curation

YAXI TV's entertainment channels (trivia, sports, curated programming) are pre-screened for suitability in a general business audience environment. Entertainment content is reviewed to exclude material that would be inappropriate in a mixed or family audience setting.

If you're using YAXI TV entertainment content and encounter material you believe is inappropriate for your venue, report it to support@yaxitv.com. We review all reports promptly.

Reporting a Content Issue

If you see content on a YAXI TV screen that you believe violates our standards or should not appear on your screens:

  • Email support@yaxitv.com
  • Include the screen ID (visible in your dashboard), approximate time and date, and a description of the content
  • We will investigate and respond within one business day
